James Wharton is an American author of historical fiction, humorous and supernatural novels and short stories.  His historical fiction works are action-thrillers developed on a foundation of factual history interspersed with engaging, purpose driven characters.  His humorous novels are loosely based on biographical events and strange individuals he has encountered along the way.  His supernatural works are grounded in credible events.

Wharton is an Adjunct Professor of Economics and Marketing.  At age 14 he left home to work for three years as a page boy in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.  He spent four years in the military, one of which was in the Viet Nam War.  He traces his lineage to the Revolutionary War with several ancestors serving at Valley

Forge.  He was born on February 22 (the same month and day as George Washington) in St. Louis, Missouri.  He also has a strong background in aviation and archeology.

Wharton attended Capitol Page School in the Library of Congress and graduated from Washington University in St. Louis.  He is a nephew of the American poet Will Wharton.  He married his childhood sweetheart, Carol Jo Simon, whom he loved before they ever met.
